IX Labs is a digitally connected, nationwide network of facilities for research, experimentation and the development of new immersive experiences.

IX Labs are our hubs for innovation, research and development based at existing physical locations. The focus is on collaboration between the labs – with the goal of creating a nationwide network of shared facilities that serves the entire IX community. The labs themselves are currently being selected, but here’s a preview of how the ecosystem will work.

What can an IX Lab do for me?

IX Labs form a nationwide, digitally-connected network of facilities for research, experimentation and development of new immersive experiences. Whether it’s applications in entertainment, education or training – this is where the future will take shape.

IX Labs offer the technical infrastructure needed to bring ideas to life, including:

Advanced technology such as VR headsets, AR devices, motion capture and 360° cameras;
Testing and experimental spaces for user research and data analysis;
Networks and collaboration opportunities with other labs and partners;
Content archiving for storing and sharing assets and applications.

Organizations looking to develop immersive applications and productions that require testing, prototyping, and validation facilities. Access to advanced technologies and collaboration opportunities is key.

Researchers and innovators

Academic researchers and companies that need access to state-of-the-art facilities for experimentation and the development of immersive applications and productions. The IX ecosystem offers cutting-edge equipment, collaboration spaces, and interdisciplinary research opportunities.

Educational institutions and students use IX Labs for learning and training purposes. Hands-on experience, workshops, and educational programs are central.

Can I be an IX Lab?

If you engage in research, experimentation, and development in the field of IX and have the capacity to provide access to your facilities, you may be eligible to become part of the CIIIC ecosystem. The application process will be announced soon!
